Heavy clip for our favorite South African rave-rap experiment Die Antwoord‘s new single “Fok Julle Naaiers.” It plays like a synth-flanked, gun-toting appropriation/mockery of usual (rap) male bravado. Stick around for the end where DJ Hi-Tek riffs on an infamous Mike Tyson quotable. TEN$ION LP drops January. (via TB)
Update: Die Antwoord’s Ninja explains the use of “controversial” words in the single below.

Should we really big up these people and their vile music? African culture is beautiful, but this trash isn’t a part of it.
We realize that Die Antwoord can be problematic, but we wouldn’t call it trash. Regardless, thanks for the feedback!
Your vile trash Rob…. Fok you
If not trashy how about redundant? The whole ‘wrong side of the tracks’ act is tired (is it even true). Feels like white people making money off cultures they really have never experienced themselves. The commodification of prison culture, township culture, of working-class poverty is crassly provocative and offers nothing new. All the more depressing when we consider that so much SA musical talent goes largely unnoticed in America.
stay at home you weak little fool!
this is bloody wonderful
