Triple threat rapper/producer/label founder Jovi continues the task of putting Cameroon hip-hop on the map with his latest video. On ‘B.A.S.T.A.R.D,’ the Douala-raised MC known for weaving words in an amalgam of Pidgin, English and French enlists the service of self-proclaimed pop princess and New Bell signee Reniss to deliver the chorus chants on the bouncy track. The video, shot by Cameroon’s Ndukong Bertrand in parts of Yaounde and Douala sees Jovi get some acting chops in, as he quite convincingly takes on the role of motor boy: a popular fixture of the transit system in West African cities. Watch B.A.S.T.A.R.D (not to be confused with  the Three Wise Men track of same name) below.

If you’re looking for #Cameroon’s best English-speaking hip hop act. There you have him. #Jovi is setting the bar really high in the national hip-hop industry both as a producer and as an artiste! This video just comes to showcase how much talent can be enshrined in two brothers (one behind the mic, the other behind the camera) and what uniting strength can do (I see them like the Jesse and Jude Abagas of Cameroon). There’s nothing I love more in African contemporary music than each artiste’s desire to identify with their culture while entertaining people beyond it! Kudos! Ahead, ahead #NewBellMusic #Team237.
