After being named a ‘New Band of The Day’ by The Guardian in November and lighting up SXSW last month, British newcomer Dan Croll released his debut EP From Nowhere a few weeks ago, featuring a remix of opening track “Compliment Your Soul” by Okayafrica favorites The Very Best. The original track is a sunny, folk-tinged nod to African rhythms — but the backing vocals and thumping bass combo remixed in by our homies The Very Best take the track to new levels. Jay-Z’s Life + Times blog recently sat down with Croll to discuss his debut project and influences, the biggest of which he cites as afrobeat and hip-hop, so check that out if you’re interested in hearing more. Check out The Very Best’s ‘Compliment Your Soul’ Remix below,we’ll been sitting here with this Dan Croll / The Very Best remix on loop all day.
