Places in Lagos to Have Fun this Weekend

Indulge in the return of Lagos Cocktail Week and treat yourself to brunch at Nobs and Berries.

If you enjoyed Lagos Cocktail Week last year, then you should make some time for this year’s edition at the Balmoral Convention Center, Victoria Island. Attracting both local and foreign cocktail enthusiasts to the pulsing city of Lagos, LCW curates and showcases the best of cocktails in this side of the world.

It kicked off on the 13th October, unveiling the best craftsmanship around mixology and bar hopping and seminars and whatnot. It’s been a week loaded with activities, with just two days left. This is where you want to be. As the month slowly comes to an end, we are expecting a plethora of Halloween-themed events next week. Trust us to dig into the spooky treasures for the right events.

90's Baby Friday at Bogobiri

Organized by the titular platform 90's Baby, 90's Baby Fridays is a niche event tapping into the social nuances and sensibilities of young adults in Lagos. To ascertain the kind of crowd it attracts would prove futile because the weekly event has found a sweet spot between millennials and Gen-Z'ers. It will be a community hangout on Friday, with booze, music, and fashion.

Friday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Venue: Bogobiri, Ikoyi

Access: N2,200 (early bird)

Chivita World Juice Day with Alex Unusual

World Juice Day is usually a day set aside to increase fruit juice consumption and consumer awareness of the benefits of taking fruit juice. One of the leading fruit juice brands in Nigeria, Chivita, has been at the forefront of this mission, celebrating World Juice Day annually with a lineup of activities.

This year’s celebrations tap Big Brother Naija alum Alex Unusual for a fun time of games, music, and of course, Chivita Juice.

Lagos Cocktail Week 2023

Arguably the biggest city-wide celebration of cocktails in Africa, Lagos Cocktail Week returns for another edition this week, which started on the 13th. Showcasing the best of Nigerian cocktail culture, the event is nearing its closing days, but so far it has involved activities like bar hopping across selected bars and restaurants in Lagos, workshops, seminars, etc.

Piano People (Amapiano Party)

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we have waxed lyrical about the infiltration of South Africa’s amapiano into the fabric of the Lagos party scene, so much so that it has nearly intertwined itself with Nigerian music.

Events like Amapiano District, and now Piano People, are only showing what’s possible with the genre when it comes to nightlife. For the second season, Piano People returns with one of the biggest amapiano parties this weekend with DJ Spin, DJ Picasso, Rania the DJ, Rex the DJ, and DJ Harrex.

Friday, Oct. 20, 6 p.m.

Venue: The Good Beach, 10B Trinity Avenue, Oniru

Burger King Ikeja

Burger King first opened in Nigeria in 2021, with an outlet on Victoria Island in Lagos. Since then, the American fast-food chain has been expanding its footprint in the city, from the Mainland to the Island. Its new branch in Ikeja (they launched in September) brings the supreme burger experience to the Mainland once more.

If you will be coming over to this side of town this weekend, try the Whooper.

Venue: 32, Joel Ogunnaike Street, Ikeja GRA

Nobs and Berries

Situated in Lekki, Nobs and Berries is a breakfast/pastry restaurant that has been around for a while now. As the name suggests, they have a robust range of breakfast and brunch menu, from exquisitely made pancakes to seafood linguine pasta.
