We asked Buraka Som Sistema to break down the whole Zouk Bass thing just a few days ago. If you missed it, its a new genre-tag for screwed, electronic reworks of 80s French Antillean zouk music. Buraka say they created it ('appropriated' might be a better word), a track by Deejay Kuimba sparked it, a lot of soundcloud-heads are into it and others not so much.
