Agi & Sam's 'Watu Nguvu' Collection

This is label Agi & Sam's latest lookbook for Fall/Winter 14, imagining if Africa was the one exploting the Western World in the last hundred years.

Design duo Agi & Sam return after their London Fashion Week presentation with their Fall/Winter 14 collection lookbook. The designers were inspired by their recent visit to the Maasai people of Kenya, deciding to name their latest collection Watu Nguvu ("people power" in Swahili). The outfits and photographs explore the reverse side of colonialism, asking: what would the world look like if it had been Africa exploiting the West for the past hundreds of years? We greet the effort and thought put into fusing this political notion with clothing design. Scroll through our gallery above and if you want to talk about it, tweet @okayafrica with #agiandsam.
