Earlier this year Just A Band's Blinky Bill and BLK JKS' Mpumi Mcata — two heavy Okayafrica favorites — took part in OneBeat, a one-month project that brings musicians from across the globe to the U.S. to collaborate, produce and perform original tracks. Mpumi wrote on the potential of the project as a catalyst for cross-cultural dialogue — the program took place in Florida near the site of the Trayvon Martin tragedy, which several musicians channeled as inspiration for their collaborations.
