Video: Three Wise Men 'Bastard'

Video for Nigerian alternative hip-hop group Three Wise Men Bastard track.

The track "Bastard" is, if anything, a reminder to Nigeria and Africa's younger generation that 1) socially conscious hip-hop with a message can also be very good hip-hop and 2) that Fela has done way more for the continent's music than "Zombie" and "Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense."

Alternative hip-hop group Three Wise Men — which consists of Black Magic and Ikon — fuse Pidgin and English flows on a Fela-inspired afrobeat-meets-hip-hop instrumental. The product is nothing short of blissful and refreshing. The group holds nothing back in letting the listeners know that their message is a political one and that they aim to agitate and challenge the status quo. If this track, off their upcoming EP Bastard Resurrection is any representation of the rest of the project, controversy and political discussion is sure to be stirred. Watch below and download here.
