David Cameron says he'll cut aid to African countries that don't champion LGBT rights. In this week's What's Up Africa, Ikenna points out the colonial irony of such a statement, saying that the UK is an "ex-colonial master trying to take the moral high-ground by financially blackmailing African countries." This is how Europe has done business with Africa since religious missionaries made their way to the continent (don't even get us started on the Structural Adjustment Programs of the 1980s). As pointed out by Africa is a Country, Cameron's decision also endangers the lives of gay people in Africa.
