Meet Chinedu Ukabam, the Nigerian born, Toronto based MCee turned fashion designer who draws inspiration from Ghanaian Kente cloth, and South African Ndebele wall art for his latest collection, Afrotropolis. Chinedesign was founded in 2003 when Chinedu aka hip-hop emcee/producer, Eye + Eye, began with a production of t-shirts to promote the release of his Love.Life.Music album. Now Chinedu has a seasonal line which has been featured in magazines such as Eye Weekly and Sway, on television shows such as Entertainment Tonight, Divas and Dimes and Da Kink and in films such as Charles Officer's Nurse.Fighter.Boy. Pieces from the Afrotropolis collection will be for sale at SUPAFRIK a “pop-up shop” in Toronto, July 15-31, 2011.
