South African producer, vocalist and rapper Kimosabe releases an acapella and beatbox remix of Drake's 'Hotline Bling.'


Hotline Bling” remixes seem to be everywhere on the interweb, with many artists wanting to put their own unique spin on Drake’s massive hit. We’ve heard countless covers of the song ourselves, but none quite like South African artist Kimosabe’s take. On “Hotline Bling (Kimosabe’s Acapella Remix),” the singer, producer and rapper shares a delicately stripped-down version of the 80s-inspired tune. Kimosabe adds layers of crisp vocals to Drake’s lyrics and lays them atop a rhythmic, beatbox drum loop—giving the song a charming barbershop quartet feel. The acapella rendition manages to stand out in the endless sea of “Hotline Bling” remixes. Check it out below.

Following Nelson Mandela's passing in December 2013, Kenneth Kaunda became Africa's last standing hero. Now with his passing on Thursday, June 17 — after being admitted to the Maina Soko Military Hospital in Lusaka earlier in the week — this signals the end of Africa's liberation history chapter.

It is tempting to make saints out of the departed. The former Zambian struggle hero did many great things. He was, after all, one of the giants of the continent's struggle against colonialism. Ultimately however, he was a human being. And as with all humans, he lived a complicated and colourful life.
