Priddy Ugly and Bontle Modiselle Dedicate Their New Artsy Music Video and Single to Their Unborn Child

Rick Jade release a new music video and announce pregnancy.

Priddy Ugly and Bontle Modiselle, known collectively as Rick Jade, made an announcement of their pregnancy today. The couple has been together for a decade, too.

To make their anniversary celebration and pregnancy announcement even more special, the duo released a video for a new single titled "Bonita." The video was shot in an art gallery by Priddy Ugly's regular video director, Nkululeko Lebambo aka Armsdeal (of CideFX Films).

The video showcases Bontle's bulging belly as she performs alongside her baby daddy in an art gallery. South African artist Percy Maimela's live installation; a portrait of Bontle "painted" using salt, contributes to the video's artistic nature.

"Ten years of our love has given life to our first love," says Bontle in a press release. "A culmination of who we are and what we have become. We've done many great things, together and individually, but none as incredible as this. There's no way to describe how this feels, but I feel everything all at once, intensely so. For the first time, I feel superhuman. But above all, I'm abundantly blessed to be chosen to mother a child with the man I truly love, coming into a family who can't wait to meet them."

Priddy Ugly, in the same press release, says:

"We celebrate our 10 year union by presenting to you - Rick Jade, an extension of Priddy Ugly and Bontle Modiselle. Our narrative is one of African excellence, the freedom of expression in art, culture & spirituality. We are advocates for love that is genuine & seamlessly natural in its expression - the making of the music was equally as organic. Our music is what a decade of love, friendship & chemistry sounds like. Our sound is both futuristic & nostalgic."

"Bonita" will be part of the duo's upcoming project titled D.N.A (Da New Africa) out August 23. "Bonita" is the first official single from the two since they formed Rick Jade. It follows their two-track EP I Want Something New and their single "Service," both released earlier this year.

France Returns a 19th Century Sword Back to Senegal

The sword belonged to a Senegalese anti-colonial struggle fighter Omar Saidou Tall.

France has returned a 19th century sword back to Senegal. The sword belonged to Senegalese Islamic scholar and anti-colonial struggle fighter Omar Saidou Tall. The French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe recently handed over the sword to Senegal's President Macky Sall in a ceremony held in Dakar this past Sunday. The sword is now in the Museum of Black Civilizations of Dakar. The move comes after the Senegalese government's request for France to return more than 100 artifacts housed in French museums and France's President Emmanuel Macron subsequently commissioned a report entitled "The Restitution of African Cultural Heritage: Toward a New Relational Ethics".
