In 1990, at the age of 38, the now retired Cameroonian striker led his national team, Les Lions Indomptables, to becoming the first African team to reach the quarterfinals of the World Cup. At 42, he became the oldest goal scorer in FIFA history when he scored against Russia at the 1994 World Cup in the U.S.
