This Is What Afro Nation Festival Looked Like

The first edition of the urban beach festival—featuring Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and many more—looked incredible.

Afro Nation had its very first edition over the weekend in the Algarve region of Portugal.

The newly-launched gathering brought together top talent from across Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Jamaica, the U.K. and the U.S. for a 4-day long "urban beach festival."

Over its several days and nights, Afro Nation brought together afrobeats' rising stars with cemented legends for an impressive line-up.

The debut edition of Afro Nation boasted performances form the likes of Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, J Hus, D'Banj, Busy Signal, Buju Banton, Femi Kuti, Tiwa Savage, Adekunle Gold, Jidenna, Maleek Berry, Stonebwoy, Vanessa Mdee, and many more.

Here are the 2019 AFRIMMA Nominees

Burna Boy, Wizkid and Rema lead this year's African Muzik Magazine Award nominations.

The nominees for the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), which recognizes the biggest talent from across the continent, have been announced.

Leading the charge is none other than Nigeria's Burna Boy, who earned seven nominations across a range of categories that include Best Male West Africa, Best Collaboration, Best Live Act, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and more. Wizkid follows closely after with five, earning a nomination for Best Collaboration for his feature on Beyoncé's "Brown Skin Girl." Rising Nigerian artist Rema also earned several nominations, including "Best Newcomer."

Other nominees include Mali's Aya Nakamura, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Niniola, Teni and more, who are all nominated for Best Female West Africa. Victoria Kimani, Vanessa Mdee, and Uganda's Rema Namakula all bagged Best Female East Africa nominations.
