Ghana-born Canada-based Kae Sun is a true storyteller. In “Black Candles” from his debut full-length album Lion On A Leash, Kae plays the guitar as he sings of the loss of innocence and the life of a child. It’s soulful, folky and full of raw emotion. Check out the live, acoustic video above.
Kae Sun
Ghanaian singer Kae Sun combines the best of the singer-songwriter tradition, lightening pulses of soul, and a few echoes of hip-hop into a unique style known as “urban folk.” Like any good folk artist, Kae Sun uses his music to address a wide range of social and spiritual issues. His stripped down sound is at times reminiscent of Bob Marley or Wyclef Jean, but his music is never derivative. Kae Sun is simply the next step in the evolution of urban folk music.
