AFRICA IN YOUR EARBUDS #21: MATHIEU SCHREYER

French-born Mathieu Schreyerhad a nomadic childhood which lead him to live in the North African nations of Morocco and Tunisia, as well as in Asia and the Middle East. Through these experiences he developed a extensive palette, and collection, of global sounds. Now established in L.A., Mathieu hosts his own KCRW radio show and holds down residencies at elite hangouts Bar Marmont and The Edison Downtown.

For his Africa In Your Earbuds mixtape, Mathieu wanted to "showcase the variety of styles in African music without loosing the feel of soul" within the diverse genres. He delivers a wide-lensed take on the continent, flowing from West Coast veterans Orchestre Super Borgou de Parakou (Benin) and Ebo Taylor (Ghana) to modern semba sounds from Angola's Batidaand more.
