This time last year, Barbie celebrated her 50th anniversary. To commemorate the different variations of the doll, Italian Vogue dedicated an entire issue to the 'black Barbie.' Somewhere along the line, photographer Obi Nwokedi was inspired by this issue and decided to showcase Barbie on the "most important day of her life: her marriage". Being of Nigerian background, Obi dressed Barbie and Ken in traditional Nigerian wedding garments, and staged scenes from the marriage proposal to the after party. In total, this entire process took about 5 months to complete. Below, check out the photos from the series.
