Vlisco's Iconic Prints In 'Hommage à L’art' [Gallery]

Iconic symbols in gold and African wax materials are the focus for african photography in dutch company Vlisco's newest campaign.

Dutch fabric company Vlisco reveals the nostalgic Hommage à l’art, a campaign that pays tribute to the iconic designs that have been trademarked by Vlisco throughout the years. From vibrant colors to detailed designs on traditional wax material, the prints are familiar to many in Central and West African regions. Koen Hauser and Maarten Spuryt, the photographer and stylist for the shoot, aimed to step away from typical 'African fashion' photography. Maarten’s goal for the campaign was to “turn drawings into icons by recreating them as gold statues.” Wax prints and gold have never looked this good.
