a Brilliant Dummy Photographs The Best Dressed At Philly's 2015 ACANA Festival

Tiayrra Bradley/a Brilliant Dummy photographs the best dressed at the African Cultural Alliance of North America's 2015 festival in Philly.

Earlier this month, the African Cultural Alliance of North America held its 8th annual festival in Philadelphia. Headlined by Nigerian superstar Flavour N'abania, the 2015 ACANA Festival brought together musicians and dancers from across Africa and the Diaspora for a full day at Penn's Landing. This year, Philly-based photographer Tiayrra Bradley, otherwise known as a Brilliant Dummy, was on hand to document some of the festival's best dressed attendees with a colorful photo wall titled If These Walls Could Talk. In an email to Okayafrica, Bradley told us of her experience setting up shop at the latest edition of ACANA:

"With festival season in full swing, I had the pleasure of attending the 8th annual ACANA Festival sponsored by PECO’s Multicultural Series and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, Pa. celebrating African culture. The Festival included acts such as Rafiya, Rotimi and Afrophonik, Togar Howard, Universal Dance Ensemble and headliner Flavour

I had the opportunity of putting together a photo wall entitled If These Walls Could Talk. The inspiration behind the project was to capture the vibrant spirit of African culture in Philly with colorful walls as a backdrop. As this was my first time at the ACANA Festival I wasn’t sure what to expect but, I was encouraged when I arrived and saw the vibrant nature of youthful and elder Africans. Once I set up my walls I got right to shooting and was even able to capture Nne and Ike from The Nne and Ike Show. From unique naturel hairstyles to colorful outfits I greatly enjoyed myself at ACANA Fest 2015 and I’m excited to do more in the near future."
