Last week, Malian ngoni master Bassekou Kouyaté & his band Ngoni Ba shared the stream of "Siran Fen" alongside a teaser for their forthcoming album Ba Power. Now, the band releases the music video for "Siran Fen." Starting with a black-and-white overhead shot of a motorcycle-filled square, the John Bosch-directed visuals quickly turn to color as they show Kouyaté and his bandmates performing the ngoni-spiked track amidst a crowd of dancing people. Like the Ba Power album teaser, the "Siran Fen" music video feels somewhat like a mini-documentary. With its close shots of vocalist Amy Sacko warmly singing and crowd members circling around her, the video welcomes viewers into the ensuing festivities, encouraging their participation in the unfolding celebration. Ba Power will be released in CD/LP/Digital formats on April 27 via Glitterbeat Records. Bassekou Kouyaté & Ngoni Ba will have an album launch show for Ba Power on May 31 at London’s Scala. The band will also perform at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival on May 3 and the Wychwood Festival on May 30.
