EbonyLife Ltd, Nigeria's premium broadcaster and studio, has locked in a three scripted television series deal with Sony.

One of the anticipated series is an action-drama based on the Dahomey Amazon Warriors—the strong women soldiers who served for over 200 years in present-day Benin. These warriors also inspired Black Panther'sDora Milaje.

Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife Ltd, says this opportunity has been a vision of hers for a long time coming since her network launched in 2013.

Now we have the opportunity to bring the fascinating story of The Dahomey Warriors, and many others like it, to audiences around the world. It has been hard work getting here, but that's what we are known for at Ebony Life. As I always say, 'If you can think it, you can do it.'"

Sony's president of international production, Wayne Garvie, says this deal's goal is to help EbonyLife create a portfolio of African content that will fulfil their aim of being one of Africa's prime creator of exceptional content. "Mo Abudu is one of the most formidable and creative figures in Nigerian television, and with Ebony Life her and the team are creating something that is truly ground-breaking and extraordinary," he adds.

This is the third project on the Dahomey Warriors so far, according to Shadow and Act, including The Woman King—starring Viola Davis and Lupita Nyong'o.
