The second annual Kinshasa Fashion Week took place last week, July 18 - 20, at the DRC capital city's Shark Club. Collections from both local and international designers were showcased on the first two days, while the event's last day was designated to an expo open to the public. Kinshasa Fashion Week Coordinator Natalie Bono summarized the exhibition's intent, "We do it because we want to expose or give visibility to our Congolese artisans... and to allow an exchange of culture and knowledge." Aimed towards strengthening a platform that will inspire future young designers in the DRC, this year's KFW featured the works of students from the Institut Supérieur des Arts et Métiers (ISAM) who premiered their first collections.
