We go behind the scenes with Kwesta as he shoots the music video for his hit single.

South African superstar rapper Kwesta recently dropped the music video for his hit single "Vur Vai." Taking from where his last music video for "Spirit" featuring Wale, the visuals for "Vur Vai" tell the story of the hood.

But with a little twist.

While "Spirit" was a snapshot of the township as a whole, "Vur Vai" takes the reimagining route. "It's a kasi superhero," said the video's director Ofentse Mwase aka Uncle Scrooch during the shoot, which lasted the whole night.

"It's something that no one would be expecting," continued the director. "Like, you hear 'Vur Vai,' and you think Kwesta grooving there with his friends, enjoying themselves, drinking, maybe some girls. So we just wanted to move away from that and try something different. Because we've seen all that stuff before and we know it. So, why not try something different?"

In the video, Kwesta is minding his business, walking out of a tavern when he's attacked by a group of men who chase him and beat the daylights out of him. He's given a superpower by a mysterious character, and in true superhero fashion, gets to serve revenge to the people who attacked him prior. The video displays great cinematography and adeptness in using visual effects from the director and his team.

Below are some behind the scenes photos from the making of the music video.
