Lupita Nyong'o Has Been Tapped to Play an Assassin In an Upcoming Remake of 'The Killer'

The Kenyan actress is set to star in the remake of John Woo's action classic.

A remake of an iconic action film, starring our fave Lupita Nyong'o? Yes please and thank you.

The Kenyan actor has been tapped to play the assassin in an upcoming remake of John Woo's 1989 crime classic The Killer, reports Deadline.

Universal Pictures has given the movie the go-ahead with John Woo as the producer. Nyong'o is in talks to take on the role, originally played by Chow Yun-fat, of an assassin protecting the life of an innocent bystander who was accidentally blinded during a hit.

The film has been fast-tracked and is set to begin filming later this year, Deadline reports.

This is far from the only project in the works for the Oscar-winner. She's teaming up with Black Panther co-star Danai Gurira to create a mini-series based on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie'sAmericanah, and she is also set to star alongside Viola Davis in an upcoming film about the Dahomey Amazon Warriors.

We'll be seeing plenty of Lupita on our screens, and needless to say, we're excited.
