NUNU NTSHINGILA-NJEKE

OkayAfrica's 100 Women celebrates African women who are making waves, shattering ceilings, and uplifting their communities.

We all have a soft spot for Facebook, or maybe some of us are still on it because it feels like a second skin. Whatever the reason, many people who have access to it use it to socialize, get news, read great articles and silly memes, or to creep on others. But enough about why we love Facebook—I wrote all of this to let you know that the person heading Africa's first Facebook office is a black woman, Nunu Ntshingila-Njeke.

Ntshingila-Njeke is an advertising and business maven—she's the former chairwoman of Ogilvy and Mather and was the communications director of Nike South Africa—with a vision for Africa's social and digital future. As the head of Facebook's Africa office in Johannesburg, she aims to integrate this social media platform with the aesthetics that Africans desire.

Last summer, Ntshingila-Njeke was inducted into the Loeries Hall of Fame—the first woman to receive this honor. Now, that's something worth writing a status about.
