South African ‘noir wave’ producer Petite Noir (aka Yannick Illunga) is getting set to drop The King Of Anxiety EP next week. We've heard the EP's slow-burning "Chess" and now get another taste off the release in "Shadows" — a striking consolidation of roaring bass, thundering snares and post-punk guitar riffs held together by Illunga's hypnotic howl. In related news, Petite Noir recently spoke to Pitchfork about the upcoming release, going to metal shows in Cape Town, working with Yasiin Bey and the huge influence Kanye's 808s & Heartbreaks had on him, “I was like, ‘Wow, here's a black guy just breaking all boundaries.’ I will always respect Kanye.
