'RAFIKI' Revels In Sold-Out Screenings During Its 1 Week Run

The film's team recently announced that it's now available for viewing in Mombasa and Kisumu.

As anticipated,RAFIKI has been in high demand since the ban on the film was temporarily lifted, making it eligible for an Oscars bid.

The Wanuri Kahiu-directed film sold out its first screenings on Sunday and has been well-received by audiences since, Reutersreports.

In response to the increased interest, Nairobi's Prestige Cinemahas added more screenings and the film will be shown through September 29. Check out the times you can catch below:

Wednesday | 1:15 p.m., 3:15 p.m.

Thursday | 1:15 p.m., 5:10 p.m., 7:00 p.m.

Friday | 12:50 p.m., 5:10 p.m., 8:50 p.m.

Saturday | 10:50 p.m., 12:50 p.m., 5:10 p.m., 7:00 p.m., 8:50 p.m.

More Nairobi theaters will now screen the film, as well as Anga Mega theater in Kisumu and Nyali Cinemax in Mombasa, the film's team announced on Twitter.

Kenyans also took to Twitter to document the moment of experiencing RAFIKI in theaters and giving it its due praise.
