Zimbabwean-British actress Thandie Newton has snagged her first Emmy, winning the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award for her role in HBO's Westworld.

Newton has played the role of Maeve Millay in the sci-fi western's two seasons, where it explores "the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin." She also was nominated for this role last year.

"I don't even believe in God but I'm going to thank her tonight. I am so blessed. I am so blessed," she says. "The cast and crew of—I can't believe I'm here—the cast and crew of Westworld, I love you all so much. Lisa Joy, Jonah Nolan, Home Box Office. J.J. Abrams, our guardian angel."

Newton made sure to close out her brief time taking this long overdue moment in by acknowledging her daughter Ripley's 18th birthday.

"I get to guide you and love you and protect you, which is my north star," she says. "I love you so much, baby."
