African Chop House, the New York-based event that gathers African millennial movers and shakers to eat their fill, made its way to Los Angeles during this year's NBA All Star Weekend.

In partnership with OkayAfrica and Martell, Luol Deng of the Los Angeles Lakers opened up his beautiful home for it to be transformed into a chop house—a gathering place for the community to grab a meal, a drink and to make lifelong connections.

"We just wanted to bring that all together and just have a great time," Pops Mensah-Bonsu, retired NBA player, says in the recap video below.

The likes of Yvonne Orji, Luvvie Ajayi, Sam Adegoke, Bozoma Saint John, answered the call to "come chop," or to come eat, with gourmet food touching all corners of the continent prepared by renowned Senegalese Chef Pierre Thiam of Yolélé Foods, Ethiopian cuisine by Palm Grove, Ghanaian cuisine by Mama Aba, Liberian cuisine by Hawa, Nigerian cuisine by Veronica's Kitchen and Somali cuisine by Banadir.

Founded by Stanley Lumax, African Chop House is the opportunity for us as Africans to recognize that food connects us and that when there's food, you know you're home.
