XOkayAfrica: Jessica O. Matthews Powers Up Our New York Office

Renewable energy CEO, Jessica O. Matthews, stopped by OkayAfrica HQ in NYC. See exclusive photos.

We get a lot of drop-ins at the OkayAfrica offices.

Any given day, you're liable to see an afrobeats star, buzzing actor, fashion it-girl, or underground artist stopping by our Brooklyn headquarters to say what's up and scope out our multipurpose gallery, OkaySpace.

In our new series XOkayAfrica, we'll be capturing those visits through exclusive photos.

NEW YORK CITY—Renewable energy maven Jessica O. Matthews is #goals.

The Nigerian CEO of social enterprise tech start-up, Uncharted Play, stopped by our offices to catch up and for us to learn about new energy-generating projects her company's embarking on the continent (details soon come).

The OkayAfrica 100 Women honoree also didn't leave the OkayAfrica HQ without dropping encouraging gems to the staff and a photo-op with our signature sign.

In the photos below, Matthews rocks one of the tees from our AFRICAN AF collection. The motto of all Nigerian mottos, "Naija No Dey Carry Last," is a phrase that resonates with her when she says:

'Naija No Dey Carry Last' means that no matter what, we as Nigerians push. It's our version of Black Girl Magic, even on our worst day, we will be the best you've ever seen. To me it just sets the bar of what I need to accomplish each day when I go out into the world and represent Nigeria.
