Sawaq al-Autobus (The Bus Driver, 1982)

Director : Atef El-Tayeb

This drama depicts the social changes in the 1980s through Hassan (played by the late Nour El-Sherif), who works as an autobus driver during the day and a taxi driver by night. He’s the only brother of five daughters, and his father owns a carpentry shop. Due to the negligence of a brother-in-law, the shop faces auction sales brought on by tax evasion. Hassan attempts to rescue the shop and his father’s reputation by asking his wealthier sisters and their husbands, but his efforts prove futile.
