Chicago Footwork Producer RP Boo x Nozinja's Shangaan Electro Mix

Stream Chicago footwork legend RP Boo's 30-minute mixtape of unreleased shangaan electro tracks from Nozinja.

RP Boo, the producer largely credited for inventing Chicago footwork, dips his toes into the lighting-speed sounds of South Africa's shangaan electro in this 30-minute mix of unreleased Nozinja tracks. "It was an honor for me to be a part of a special mix project for Shangaan Electro," RP Boo tells The Fader. "I had never been asked to go outside of the planted sound of footwork and embrace another dynamic style of sound. I simply added some flavor to an already moveable source—bionic groove—and would do it again with pleasure. Just alone I enjoy the sounds of Shangaan Electro—keep fueling the movement of body and soul. Let's footwork together, world."

As we previously wrote about, the Grammys have renamed the international category of Best World Music Album to Best Global Music, in an effort to reportedly make it more modern and inclusive.

In that new Best Global Music Category, Nigerian afro-fusion star Burna Boy is nominated alongside Tuareg desert rock group Tinariwen, NYC afrobeat outfit Antibalas, Brazilian-American Bebel Gilberto and British-Indian sitar player Anoushka Shankar.
