Romare Signs To Ninja Tune + Drops Celebratory Track 'Jimmy'

London beatsmith Romare releases free track 'Jimmy' in celebration of his recent Ninja Tune signing.

It's been a minute since London beatsmith Romare first landed on our radar with the seminal Meditations on Afrocentrism, an EP notable for its splicing of archival West African and African American audio samples to amazing effect. After two years of bestowing his midas touch on audiences across Europe, Romare has signed with Ninja Tune and plans to release his debut album through the iconic London label. In celebration of the good news as well as his exclusive mix for UK Radio presenter Benji B, Romare has dropped a new blues-soaked audio-collage. Listen to "Jimmy" below and look out for more spliced and chopped material from Romare coming up.

As journalists, our work is based on telling African stories, and the gap of female stories is a very apparent one that needs filling. It's important to have an environment that appreciates fearless and unapologetic women chasing their dreams and breaking the boundaries before them.

We caught up with Toketemu Ohwovoriole, a multimedia storyteller & journalist; Solis, a singer, songwriter, poet, & muse; Lauretta Yemoja, a beauty artist and rapper/singer; Tiwa Pearl, a dancer and creative; and Oyinkansola Dada, an art curator and founder of art gallery Polartics, to talk about their careers.
