The Diaspora African Women's Network is hosting a special 'My Africa Is' screening and discussion for Black History Month in D.C.
The Diaspora African Women’s Network (DAWN) will host Washington, D.C.’s first screening of My Africa Is next Tuesday. The documentary series, which follows young, African change-makers across the continent, made its official U.S. television debut this week.
As part of DAWN’s Black History Month Diaspora Leadership Series, “Celebrating Black Immigrant Contributions & Diaspora Perspectives," a panel discussion featuring My Africa Is film producer, Nosarieme Garrick, Washington Post deputy digital producer, Karen Attiah, An African City creator, Nicole Amarteifio, and Okayafrica’s own CEO, Abiola Oke will follow.
The conversation will focus on the “importance of Black immigrant and diaspora narratives, contributions and perspectives in the United States.”
