Watch Beast and Sjava’s Music Video for ‘Hello’

Beast and Sjava share visuals to their hit 'Hello.'

Beast's latest single "Hello" is doing well, getting airplay on most South African major radio stations. This is obviously thanks to the radio-friendly nature of the song, especially the hook from Sjava and its Afro pop feel.

"Hello" is optimistic, with the rapper encouraging his listeners by telling them, no matter how difficult life currently is, things eventually get better. With lines like, "Gcwala ngami, kuzolunga, kuzolunga kuyobe ngathi ak'kaze k'shube/ Uk' uzwe ngesinamuva, kungena lona l'vele l'bhubhe." The last line, of course is a subtle nod to Sjava and his debut album Isina Muva (2016).

The recently released music video for the song was shot on a basketball court. The visual follow the song's story arch—using basketball as an entry point. The general theme is that perseverance conquers.

Beast is one of Durban's most respected lyricists, having paid his dues in the city's scene in the last several years. He's been recently getting a bit of mainstream recognition since joining the house label Afrotainment, which is headed by DJ Tira. After appearing on a few gqom songs, it seems he has found a sound that can work for him with "Hello."
