Okay Acoustic With Bombino

Tuareg guitarist Bombino performs an entrancing acoustic interpretation of "Imidiwan" in Central Park for Okayafrica TV.

Okayafrica TVsat down with Bombino in Central Park to record the latest installment of Okay Acoustic just before the Niger-based songwriter and his band hit the stage at our SummerStage showcase. For their session, the Tuareg guitarist and his group's percussionist delivered a stripped-down rendition of "Imidiwan," one of the standout psychedelic desert grooves on his recent Nomad LP; a song that Bombino explains is named after "friendship." The resulting acoustic version is a calm and entrancing interpretation of the original, showcasing Bombino's complex finger-picking and his infectious Tuareg guitar riffs. Watch our episode of Okay Acoustic with Bombino above and our video re-cap of his SummerStage performance alongside Young Fathers and Fantastic Negritobelow.
