Gaika Will Perform In South Africa and Malawi This Month

Gaika is bringing his trippy sound to Joburg, Cape Town and Lilongwe.

Gaika is bringing his eerie bass-heavy brand of dancehall to South Africa and Malawi this month.

The UK-based innovative and genre-bending producer, vocalist and performer will perform at Kitcheners in Joburg on the 8th, The Waiting Room in Cape Town on the 9th and Grittah's Camp in Lilongwe, Malawi on the 10th.

"I am looking forward to coming back to South Africa in 2018," says Gaika. "It's very emotional for me to come back to the place my name is from. I spent some time here as a child. I am greatly inspired by its history and culture."

The aforementioned venues are known for accommodating left field and experimental musicians, and Gaika's music, which is near impossible to categorize, will fit perfectly.

The artist has carved his own lane in the UK music scene, with highly experimental music and a conceptual image. His music borrows from grime, R&B, grunge, trip-hop and of course dancehall.

He released Machine, his debut EP in 2015, and his latest is titled Spaghetto.

Tickets will be available at the door at each event.
