Ghanaian-Canadian singer/songwriter Kae Sun searches for meaning in "l o n g w a l k,” a celestial track from his forthcoming self-titled EP. A darkened desert of drum sizzles, ambling keys, and quick handclaps, the self-produced track sees the musician striving for liberation under ominous electronics. Kae Sun expanded on the track in an e-mail to Okayafrica:

"The process of making this song sort of reminded me of when I was a kid back in Ghana," Kae Sun writes, "and we’d sometimes go to the church in Tesano, Accra on the evenings when the band was rehearsing. I was so intrigued by the instruments and the playing. I got my first drum lesson from one of these guys and I also remember a  friend from school lending  me one of those mini Casio keyboards and I’d just spend hours on that thing. Lyrically it’s really straight and responsive, I guess, to this beautiful mess of a world but it’s more query than protest."

Kae Sun's forthcoming self-titled EP is due in late spring and a full-length is scheduled for release in the fall. In the meantime, the artist is playing on March 28 at AFRICA SALON, Yale University's first contemporary arts and culture festival. He's also working with Emeka Alams of Seattle-by-way of Cote d’Ivoire clothing label Gold Coast Trading Co. in association with contemporary art space Iwalewahaus on a collaboration that will be presented alongside the EP.
