South African hip-hop deejay and producer Ms Cosmo has teamed up with hit makerSho Madjozi, fresh talents Dee Koala with her vocals and Xhosa rapper Nelisiwe Sibiya for "Baningi". The all-women ensemble has created an explosive battle cry for women all over the continent.

"Baningi" borrows its rhythm and verse from famous Zulu battle war cries. One can even dare to state that it is the South African version of "Formation" by Beyonce.

The track is built on a trippy hip-hop beat. Sho Madjozi tones it up with her fast-paced XiTsonga raps while Dee Koala's organic vocals and Nelisiwe's raps define the song's defiant stance.

Ms Cosmo is a veteran South African hip-hop deejay, and is famous for her collaborations and women empowerment. "Baningi" carries the spirit of celebrating the strength and magic that women carry which has gained the term #Mbokodo meaning "rock".

Unity is power as Ms Cosmo explained the motivation behind the collaboration:

"I've always wanted to make a proudly South African song and the combination of these three ladies hit the nail on the mark with achieving that. I'm a big fan of all the three of them so it made it a great fit".

The deejay and producer's last collaboration and single release was two years ago with "Ay Baby" featuring Rouge, Sho Madjozi and Moozlie.

"Baningi" is sure to make a mark beyond August which is South Africa's Women's Month.

Ms Cosmo is currently working on her project which currently has no title or release date. "I'm hoping to finish it soon," she says.
