Ethiopian-born Meklit Hadero will be performing live with her band at the Skirball Center in Washington Square South on Sunday, April 3rd. Growing up in the U.S., her music draws from a wide range of influences, from her native Ethiopian and East African sounds, to jazz and folk mixed with rock n' roll. Currently Meklit is a TED Global Fellow, the founder of the Ethiopian cultural exchange Arba Minch Collective and a spring artist-in-residence at NYU. Check out the track below for a quick preview.
