Watch Patty Monroe’s Personal Visuals for ‘Fighter’

Patty Monroe shares emotive visuals for 'Fighter.'

Patty Monroe's latest music video for "Fighter" is directed by Dale Fortune. In the video, the Cape Town-born rapper shares her personal story of growing up; some parts of the video were filmed in the house she grew up in, with her mother and grandmother making cameos.

In the song, she thanks her mother for all the sacrifices she made raising her:

"Remember coming home late, and it was past five/ that's when she had to get up, to keep us alive/ hustle hard, she on the grind/ bringing us pretty things to keep our mind off the crazy world outside, life wasn't kind"

Later on, as she shares her story of self-medication, she can be seen downing large amounts of alcohol in a bar. This, as she raps about the come-up and her journey in the game. She raps, "taking sips of venom, thinking I'm in heaven, but that's just the shortcut to hell, I can feel it on my blood vessels."

The visuals, however, end on a positive note, as a serene Patty is depicted towards the end.

"Fighter" enlists the effective vocal skills of the singer Caleb Williams. The song appears on Patty Monroe's debut album, Malatjie. The 15-track project was released in 2017.
