Photos: Where Donated Clothes Go

We love this photo collection published in Foreign Policy about the west's "misguided attempts" to get rid of old clothing. The Superbowl shirts pictured above are particularly painful for the Bears fans who lost the big game to the Colts that year, but the influx of casted-off clothing may hurt local textile industries too. The piece also examines how Toms, the shoe manufacturer that promises to match every shoe purchase with a pair for a barefoot kid in a poor country, is "good marketing but bad aid."
