Not quite sure who asked, but today—just ahead of his 93rd birthday tomorrow— Zimbabwe's long-running leader, Robert Mugabe, shared his views on Donald Trump's "America-first" foreign policy agenda.

"When it comes to Donald Trump, talking of American nationalism, America for Americans —on that we agree. Zimbabwe for Zimbabweans," he said.

Mugabe, who's been in power for 37 years, has never been enthusiastic about supporting an American president, until now. Since 2001, Zimbabwe has been hit with U.S.-led travel sanctions and trade embargoes, which the president blames for the country's economic troubles. Mugabe thinks Trump might be the person to change all of that.

"Give him time," remarked the head of state. "Mr. Trump might even re-look the sanctions on Zimbabwe." It looks like Mugabe may have found his American equivalent and he's looking to capitalize off of this new set-up. And, much like Trump, despite a good portion of the world telling him otherwise, he still feels that he's the right person for head of state.

According to himself, in Zimbabwe, "the majority of the people feel that there is no replacement, successor who to them is acceptable, as acceptable as I am." None of this "majority of people" have been available for comment.
