NYC-based producer DJ Xpect recently spun his new remix to Kenyan afro-pop band Sauti Sol's "Sura Yako" while setting off a New Year's Eve party in Naivasha, Kenya. As you might remember, "Sura Yako," the fourth single off Sauti Sol's upcoming Live and Die in Afrika LP, was launched with a lipala instagram dance competition. DJ Xpect's remix keeps those original dance floor tendencies but gives the song an electronic pulse adding uptempo horn riffs and short-looped vocals throughout. Xpect first heard "Sura Yako" while exploring the Kenyan music scene on his recent visit and decided to infuse a bit of his own afroelectro style into the single.
