It's been a busy week for South African music.

Read ahead below as we share with you four great releases that caught our attention this week. The list is in no particular order.

Petite Noir La Maison Noir / The Black House (EP)

Petite Noir's latest EP, just like his previous work, is dense. The artist packs heavy percussion, an assortment of synths and pads in his songs. His layered vocals are drenched in reverb and sound haunted. The albums packs layers of influences and genres, such as electro, bubblegum, soul among others. La Maison Noir / The Black House features Danny Brown, Nukubu Nukubi, Rha! Rha! and Saul Williams.

Anatii Iyeza

Iyeza is the culmination of Anatii's single "Thixo Onofefe." Just like the single, the album makes a lot of references to spirituality. Which is of course nothing new to Anatii. But Iyeza sees the man embrace his Xhosa roots more than he ever has before. He uses the language in his lyrics throughout most (but not all) of the album. At 10 songs long, Iyeza is the perfect length. By the time it ends, you are left wanting more, and you reach for the repeat button. Iyeza has no single guest feature, but it features production from BLFR, alongside some of Anatii's own.

Heavy K Respect The Drumboss 2018

It's officially summer. Heavy K dropped an album that consists of 15 songs that won't allow you to rest. As the tile suggests, in true Heavy K fashion, most of the songs on the album lead with hard-hitting drums. It's a cross between gqom and deep house, with most of the songs featuring sung vocals that glide over digital synths and pads. We are sorted for December.

Black Motion Moya Wa Taola

The cover on Moya Wa Taola does a great job at selling the music on the album. Black Motion's music has always been deeply rooted in spirituality. As much as it's hard to lay your finger on what exactly makes their music spiritual sometimes, it's something you discern. Such is the realm of spirituality, it's all about feeling and being in touch. Moya Wa Taola is a house album that is great for both turning the party up and private listening.

Kabomo All Things Red

South African veteran singer, rapper and writer, Kabomo recently released a free album titled All Things Red. The album features rapper Khuli Chana and singers Nothende, Siphokazi, Mpumi and Mapula Mahlo. All Things Red is vintage Kabomo, as the artist returns to the mellow neo-soul he has been known for, for a long time through albums such as All Things Grey (2012), Memory Remains & Memory Remains Deluxe Edition (2014) and Sekusile (2015). Last year, Kabomo released a double album titled Unapologetic, which consisted of two parts; one hip-hop and the other house. On his latest album, the artist isn't trying to be many things at once. Considering the title, the album is obviously a sequel to All Things Grey. Old fans will definitely be impressed.
