French filmmaker Élie Séonnet and French-Beninese model and Miss France 2014 Flora Coquerel take a journey through francophone Africa from tracing the love the community has with wax print to catching up with young African and Afro-French designers utilizing the fabric today.

Featuring designers Adama Ndiaye, Elie Kuame, Maureen Ayité, Loza Maléombho, Shade Affogbolo, Chayet Chiénin and Youssouf Fofana, Coquerel touches base with the new generation of creatives who have chosen to incorporate wax print into their clothing and learn about their inspirations, challenges and ambitions for the future of African fashion.

Wax In The City is due to make its U.S. premiere at Purchase College's (T)HERE Global Festival, where the program's focus is celebrating Benin, on Friday, September 28. It'll show the night before at the Montreal International Black Film Festival and then head to Harlem's National Black Theatre on September 30.
