Photos: Backstage at Adiree's Africa Fashion Week

Okayafrica were among the best of the diaspora's fashionistas this last weekend at Adiree's Africa Fashion Week. Designer's from all over the African diaspora showcased their works to NYC's most important influencers in fashion. The different styles ranged from haute couture gowns to oversized kente purses. This three day event took place at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York City. The show started at 8pm but the insanity backstage began much earlier on. We got to peep backstage while the designers had their clothes fitted and steamed to perfection. As the show started, models quickly changed into different clothes to avoid gaps in the showcase. During the intermission, cocktails were served and the audience was given a chance to mingle, yet many of the different stylists made their way backstage to give praises to the designers. The show closed with a jaw-dropping gown from angolan designer Nadir Tati, which incorporated cowry shells into its design.
