It's been some time since we've shed light on Eastern Cape-raised acoustic guitar hero Bongeziwe Mabandla. The high-pitched "afro folk tronik" darling, whose toyed with our heartstrings plenty in the past, is back on our radar with a somewhat spontaneous jam session for the books. The folks at BalconyTV in Johannesburg recently cooked up a soul-powered crooning orchestra made up of Mabandla along with South African pop royalty Zahara and Joss Stone. In the first video to come from the three part series, the trio take on "Isizathu" (meaning "the reason"), an original composition which Mabandla attests to "looking for meaning in one's own life."
