Photography has always held a special appeal to Victor Onyebuchi. Born in London to Nigerian parents, his earliest memories of photography were the black and white images of relatives that accompanied letters tucked into blue airmail envelopes regularly sent to his mother. Most recently, Onyebuchi travelled to Cuba on a 53 day journey. While there, he used 35mm film to produce a personal catalogue of his observations, interactions and experiences of Cuba's social and cultural landscape. With each photo, he displays common life and culture for the average person in Cuba. Cuba 53 is the first collection by photographer Victor Onyebuchi to be displayed at Lounge in Brixton, London June 1-29 (56-58 Atlantic Rd.).
