Iconic Nigerian photographer J.D. 'Okhai Ojeikere passed on Sunday, February 2nd, at the age of 83. Ojeikere, who first picked up a camera aged 20 and went on to become an active member of the Nigerian Art Council in the late 1960s, has been celebrated worldwide for his Hairstyles series, a collection of 1000+ photos of Nigerian hairstyles that have risen to an iconic status in the worlds of fashion and photography for their role in documenting a key aspect of Nigerian femininity.
